High Line Canal Management Plan- several locations, Colorado

We have completed the draft of the recommendations plan. Our portion of this project included creating maps that show a trail circulation inventory and analysis; private improvement, recreational facility, and viewshed inventory; tree and weed inventory; and circulation upgrades and improvements.

Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve- Greenwood Village, Colorado

We are pleased to announce that we were selected for the Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve Improvements project. This project will include the design of a seating and overlook area while using a natural aesthetic to blend in with the existing environment.

 

City Park Roadway Improvements- Denver, Colorado

We are pleased to announce that we were hired by the City and County of Denver to provide design services for modifications to the park roadway system near the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. This project will include providing a new roadway alignment, new parking, two new roundabouts, trail modifications, and removal of some existing portions of park roads. The improvements will integrate with the building expansion and site improvements being planned by the Museum of Nature and Science.

 

Centennial Regional Link Trail- Centennial, Colorado

We have submitted our 95% construction documents. South Suburban Parks and Recreation plans to bid the project this Spring.

E. Illiff Road Underpass- Greenwood Village, Colorado

We have completed construction documents for the Illiff Road Underpass. The project will be bid in March and construction is slated to begin in October, 2011.

 

Denver Restrooms- various locations, Colorado

White Construction has begun construction of all four of the new restroom buildings and site improvements that were designed by Architerra and SlaterPaull Architects. These improvements are in Bible Park, Sloan's Lake Park, Rosamond Park, and Garland Park. Construction is anticipated to be complete by summer, 2011.

 

Norheast Lakewood Trail- Lakewood, Colorado

We have completed the site inventory and identified potential routes for the trail around planned RTD light rail expansion. A public meeting is planned in early April, 2011.

Village Greens Park - Greenwood Village, Colorado

We are continuing the master planning process for Village Greens Park. We have a public meeting scheduled for March, 2011.

The Gilpin County Trail was recently awarded the 2010 Starburst Community Award. This award recognizes outstanding use of Lottery funds for projects.

Westminster Center Park was recently awarded the 2010 Starburst Community Award, the Columbine Award from the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association, and a Hard Hat Award for the work performed by Colorado Hardscapes.

 

St. James Playground - Littleton, Colorado

The St. James Presbyterian Church playground will be opening this month. Architerra's design includes decorative pavement, a biblical themed playground, an outdoor classroom, a shelter, and seating areas.

 

Dry Creek Loop Trail - Niwot, Colorado

We will begin work on the Dry Creek Loop Trail project. This project will provide an important trail connection from Left Hand Valley Grange to Niwot Road. In addition, the trailhead at Left Hand Valley Grange will be redesigned.

Cherry Creek Trail Signage Program - Various locations, Colorado

Architerra is pleased to announce that our firm, along with Quinby Clune Design, was selected for this unique and important project. We will be studying the existing signage along the Cherry Creek corridor and will make recommendations on new signage treatments. These new signs could be implemented along the trail from Confluence Park to Castlewood Canyon.

 

Orchard Road Underpass - Greenwood Village, Colorado

There was a ribbon cutting ceremony this month for the Orchard Road Underpass project. In addition to drainage and landscape improvements, the project provides an important new grade separated crossing of Orchard Road for trail users. The trail underpass provides a safe trail connection to Tommy Davis Park.

 

Iliff Road Underpass- Denver, Colorado

Architerra has been working with Wilson and Company to design a trail underpass for the High Line Canal Trail at Iliff Road. The conceptual design is complete, and we are just starting construction documents. The project is expected to be ready for bidding in March 2011.

Architerra is pleased to announce that we were awarded the City and County of Denver Parks and Recreation on-call services contract for Landscape Architecture projects. We have enjoyed our relationship with the City and County of Denver over the years and look forward to working on more great projects with them!
 

Denver Parks Restrooms - Denver, Colorado

Architerra has been working with SlaterPaull Architects and White Construction to provide new restrooms in four separate parks in Denver. Architerra designed the site improvements for these new amenities. The design work is complete and construction is expected to begin by the end of the year.

 

Architerra is pleased to announce that we have been hired by the City of Lakewood to assist them with a planning study for a new trail corridor in northeast Lakewood. This important project will identify the most desirable route for a proposed off-street trail that will replace an existing on-street bike route. The intent is to provide better trail connections in that part of the city and to provide new connections to the proposed RTD light rail stations nearby. The trail will also provide a connection from Lakewood to the Colorado Front Range Trail.

Parkfield Park, Phase 2- Denver, Colorado

Phase 2 of this important community park opened to the public this month. This phase included large bluegrass meadows, trails, two shelter areas and a new parking lot.

High Line Canal Management Plan - Aurora, Colorado

Architerra, along with Applied Design Services and ICON Engineering, was selected to prepare the High Line Canal Management Plan for the City of Aurora. We will be assisting with the development of a Management Plan for the High Line Canal including the 12.4  miles of the Canal as it runs through the City of Aurora from Havana St. on the west to 38th Ave. on the north and the approximately 4.2 miles of the Canal running through unincorporated Arapahoe County located in four segments from I-25 on the west to Mississippi Ave. on the north.

 

Confluence Park Ramps - Denver, Colorado

Architerra is pleased to announce that we will be starting a new project that will improve the ramp system to the west of the confluence of the South Platte River and Cherry Creek.

Westminster Center Park - Westminster, Colorado

Friday, May 21 will the be the official park opening. Please come out and help us celebrate with live music and fun! This park will include an amphitheater, custom shelters, a plaza with interactive water features, a playground with custom designed play equipment, large open bluegrass meadows, walking trails, a restroom, and custom art features including lighting around the shelters and an obelisk at the center of the plaza.

Civic Center Park - Denver, Colorado

Plans for all areas of this project will be complete by the end of the month. Construction progresses on the Balustrade Central Stairway, Voorhies Memorial, and Greek Theater.

 

Centennial Regional Link Trail - Centennial, Colorado

Architerra has begun design development work on the first phase of this important regional trail. This phase of the project will provide a connection between University Boulevard and Orchard Road. The project includes both hard surface and soft surface trails, rest areas, and street intersection improvements.

 

High Line Canal Trail Underpass at Iliff Avenue - Denver, Colorado

The Architerra Group, along with Wilson and Company, has been selected to design an important trail underpass in Arapahoe County. When complete, this project will provide a safe underpass for the High Line Canal Trail to replace the existing at-grade crossing of Iliff Avenue.

 

High Line Canal Trail at Iliff Avenue - Denver, Colorado

Construction was completed on this section of the High Line Canal Trail from Iliff Avenue to the Cherry Creek Trail (approximately .75 miles). The project includes a new pedestrian bridge over the High Line Canal, retaining wall, an asphalt trail, ADA accessibility, and safety and maintenance improvements along the trail.

Macanta Regional Park - Douglas County, Colorado

A conceptual plan for this trailhead and trail was approved at the County Parks Board meeting this month. Architerra will now move into preparing construction documents for this plan that includes a parking lot with spaces to accommodate horse trailers, custom shelters, decorative pavement, a playground, and a sheltered overlook.

 

Parkfield Park - Denver, Colorado

Construction progresses on this important project. The concrete work is almost complete and the installation of the shelters is scheduled to happen next. A successful turnout of volunteers for the Arbor Day planting resulted in the planting of most of the trees. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the middle of June.

Red-tailed Hawk Park, Phase 2 - Aurora, Colorado

Construction is continuing at this large park off of E-470. The City has added a skate park and an additional parking to the planned plaza that includes bocce ball courts, horseshoe courts, a sand volleyball court, a sprayground, and shelters.
